Location & Work Environment

This role is based in a collaboration Office located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Employees follow a hybrid work model (2 to 3 days on site weekly), collaborating virtually with global teams while attending periodic in-person meetings and trainings. The modern office is housed in a historic building and offers collaborative workspaces, meeting rooms, dining areas, phone booths, and advanced technology to support both in-person and remote work.

The Role

The Project Manager, Engineering I - Civil/Structural Design leads a team of CAD Designers and Drafters and plays a key role in shaping engineering projects from concept through execution. This individual champions design excellence, establishes CAD best practices, and ensures quality, consistency, and efficiency across a diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of CAD Designers and Drafters, fostering continuous learning and performance improvement
  • Establish and maintain CAD standards of practice, ensuring consistent application across projects
  • Define design objectives and technical specifications aligned with project goals, schedules, and budgets
  • Coordinate design reviews and updates with engineering and department leadership
  • Participate in front-end project planning and contribute to Project Execution Plans
  • Drive project CAD setup activities and resource planning
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance requirements
  • Coordinate design resource allocation with engineering department leads
  • Evaluate skill sets of new personnel prior to project mobilization
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines to align workflows and procedures
  • Manage design-related schedules, staffing, and budget considerations
  • Educate engineering teams on software functionality and design best practices
  • Partner with software vendors to resolve technical or system issues

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline and relevant engineering experience that includes supervisory/leadership and project management responsibilities
  • OR
  • High School Diploma with 12 years of relevant engineering experience, including supervisory/lead and project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing teams of design professionals
  • Strong background in drafting and design
  • Demonstrated experience leading transitions to new design or CAD software
  • Expertise in developing, documenting, and implementing CAD standards
  • Proficiency with industry-standard CAD tools
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage complex design projects and deliver results on schedule
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards (ISO, ANSI, ASME, etc.) and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with efficient plant or facility layout concepts
